Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance and Cost

Does Brooklyn Integrative Medicine Accept insurance?
Dr. Zablozki-Amir does not bill or accept insurance directly. Being in-network with insurance plans would restrict how much time we can spend with patients and what services we can offer — and that doesn't work for the level of care our patients receive.

We will provide paperwork for you to submit for any out-of-network coverage you may have.

.

How much does it cost?
Your Initial Functional Medicine Consultation is $450. After this, you will have options and costs for working together moving forward. (See our Becoming a Patient Page

Why does the doctor typically see patients by telehealth?
We see patients predominantly by telehealth. There are many benefits to this, including:

  • Convenience::
Receive care without the time and disruption of traveling to an office or sitting in a waiting room, making it easier to incorporate appointments into your schedule and maintain continuity of care.

  • A window into your daily environment:
Connecting from your own home or workspace can provide valuable insight into the routines, habits, and factors that influence your health.

  • Greater scheduling flexibility:
It allows us to offer appointments in a way that is more adaptable to patients’ schedules.

While many aspects of functional medicine evaluation and care can be effectively provided through telehealth, certain situations may require an in-person assessment or additional evaluation. If this becomes necessary, we will discuss the appropriate next steps and help coordinate care with the appropriate healthcare provider.

What is video telemedicine?
Appointments over video using Practice Better, which is fully HIPAA compliant. It's simple to download. It's the best option when travel is difficult, you need flexibility, or a physical exam isn't critical to determining your next steps.

Are there any In-Person Options?
Currently most appointments are by telemedicine. In-person options are available in select cases.
This can be discussed during your Initial Functional Medicine Consultation – which will be via telehealth – to find out if it’s a good fit.

Why Is lab testing Important?
Lab testing (blood, urine, sometimes stool or saliva) helps you understand your unique “inner terrain”- what may be working well, where there may be vulnerabilities, and what your individual needs may be. .
.It also gives us a baseline from which to track changes over time and see where your health trajectory is headed.

Testing can provide insight into areas such as nutritional needs, your microbiome make-up, inflammation and immune activity, food senstivites, hormone balance, and comprehensive heart and metabolic health risks.

These insights can help uncover opportunities that may not be apparent from symptoms alone. It helps us get the right information to better understand you and help guide a more personalized, effective plan for your health.

You're encouraged to bring recent lab results, and we'll fill in the blanks to get a fuller picture.

Which lab testing companies do you utilize:
Labs are usually ordered from both, national labs such as Labcorp or Quest, and specialty labs
such as:
Boston Heart Diagnostics, Genova Diagnostics,Vibrant Wellness, Cyrex Laboratories, Rhein Labs, Precision Analytical(Dutch Test), Tiny Health, Oral DNA and others.

If you have a question about a specific lab listed or not, please contact us.

We also welcome results of previous labs ordered by other practitioners.

Are Laboratory Testing Costs Included Or Covered By Insurance?
Laboratory testing costs are additional and are customized based on your health goals and the information needed to guide your care. Lab fees are paid directly to the laboratory. Some testing may be covered by insurance and will vary depending on the lab and your individual plan.

Dr. Zablozki-Amir does not mark up laboratory costs and will provide guidance on recommended testing and expected costs before any labs are ordered.
