DR. ILANA ZABLOZKI-AMIR, MD

A more holistic and root cause way of thinking about health.

You're more than what shows up on a lab report, diagnosis, or symptom list. I help you gain a deeper understanding of your health, and a more proactive way to care for it.

As a medical doctor who naturally thinks outside the box, my approach is to take the whole unique person into consideration, look for the underlying cause of why something is happening, and provide a broader toolbox of solutions that are safe, impactful, and practical. And it's always rooted in looking ahead, protecting your health for the long term.

How this perspective evolved.

This way of thinking started with my father. When he was battling cancer, I watched him fight not only the disease itself, but also the effects of the treatments intended to help him. I saw how much of his care was focused on the disease, and how little attention was given to supporting him going through it. I painstakingly saw his vibrant life quickly spiral downward and recognized how, once a serious disease takes hold, our ability to change the course becomes much harder.

As I learned more on my own at the time, I discovered many meaningful ways we could have complemented his treatment plan. I also began to understand something that has stayed with me ever since: there is so much we can do to support health and address vulnerabilities before someone reaches the point of serious illness.

At the time, I was already a physician, finishing my residency and fellowship training in rehabilitation and sports medicine. I knew how to treat injuries, help restore function, and to manage symptoms with medication. But I realized I needed a deeper understanding of what drives health and disease beyond the immediate problem in front of me. That led me to pursue extensive additional training in integrative and functional medicine, nutrition, and other areas, that over nearly three decades since, have become an integral part of how I provide medical care.

A different kind of medicine.

Whether you're navigating the changes of midlife, dealing with a specific health concern, looking to understand why you don't feel like yourself, or want to be more proactive in staying ahead of preventable disease, my goals are the same:

  • To help you understand your body more clearly so you can make more confident, informed decisions about your health.

  • To help you build a stronger foundation now and for the future — so you can keep doing the things that matter to you for as long as possible.

This is the kind of medicine I love practicing

"I've always been driven by the idea of proactive prevention, and I encourage my patients, as I do with my own family, to learn as much as they can about their own health, become their own advocates, and be open to both traditional and non-traditional approaches."
